England won the Barefoot Open – UK Footvolley Championships in an exhilarating final against Brazil. The tournament had some of the top international footvolley teams take to the sand including The Netherlands, Norway, Germany and Brazil.

The England team, Jimmy Greenwood and Ben Coyne had spectators on the edge of their deckchairs in a gripping three set final which went down to the last point (15-7, 13-15, 15-14). It is the first time a British team has won an international footvolley tournament in the history of the sport. Elly Trimingham event organiser said “Saturday was fantastic. We have seen some top class skill with lots of over head kicks and close run matches. We are thrilled that England managed to win.”

It’s been a good year for British teams at Yellowave with England also taking the trophy in the Brighton & Hove Schools Beach Soccer World Cup. .
